ABSTRACT
This proposed research work consisted of three objectives in particular: 1) to study the essence of the children literature “the Secret Garden” ; 2) to analyze the Buddhadhamma appearing in the children literature; and 3) to analyze its value in the children literature.
The result of the study indicate that the children literature the Secret Garden was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett – a western author. The story is based on Christian Science and Psychology using symbolic in simple writing making the form interesting for readers. The story have detail about life-changing as could be well observed in the study of the Buddhadhamma, understanding Buddha’s thought in his own lifetime, also in different places, time.
A study of Buddhadhamma appearing in the literature is divided in three parts: 1) Buddhadhamma about life-changing by finding the point along with Christian’s life-changing concept 2) the factors bringing change in life 3) others Dhamma topics obviously appearing in the children literature consisting Karma, self-reliance, Yonisomanasikãra, Iddhipãda, Sangahavatthu and Brahmavihãra.
The significance of research in this children literature lays in 3 parts 1) the value of art created language 2) the value of story detail 3) the Social value and 4) Applying in daily-life that making the reader joyful; also to lead them to bring change in life. As the sound use of bibliography will be in hand, the worth of this multiply many folds. Further, the value of this could be evaluated from the use of experiences pertaining to self transformation, or to apply to the equipments for Dhamma teaching that the Dhamma learner could clearly understand and use it for creating fresh thoughts having the Buddhist teaching in the centre.
