Abstract
The objectives of this research are: 1) to study the people’s wisdom in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang District, Uttaradit Province, 2) to study the Buddhadhamma principles for enhancement the wisdom in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang District, Uttaradit Province and 3) to study the application of Buddhadhamma principle for enhancement the people’s wisdom in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang District, Uttaradit Province. This study is a documentary and qualitative research. The collect data studied from the Dhamma principle in Theravāda Buddhism and the local wisdom in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang District, Uttaradit Province and focusing group discussion. The obtained data was summarized and written in descriptive details.
The results of research are found that: the wisdom is the body of knowledge which has accumulated and inherited from grandfather that is thought to progeny and they also have got new learning experience in this thing. Namrid Sub-District is rich land the surface of water and ground for doing agriculture which is benefit to cultivate of people in this area very much. The people’s wisdom in this area has accumulated the knowledge on agriculture side for a long time. This wisdom can create work, economy and income for people in community of Namrid Sub-district. The wisdoms in Namrid Sub-district are weaving, brown rice, basketwork and blacksmith.
The application of Buddhadhamma principle for enhancement the wisdom in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang District, Uttaradit Province can be divided into 3 aspects namely: 1) Santuṭṭhi is contentment that is a Dhamma principle for people’s enhancement to has occupation in the Namrid community, increasing income and a sustainable well-being. They also could develop themselves, their family and community. The people in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang District, Uttaradit Province have applied the wisdom that is found that the manufacture could help by themselves, make their family happy and without the liability. 2) Diṭṭhadhammikattha-dhamma is virtues conductive to benefit in the present that could application with the wisdom by using Uṭṭhānasampadā is achievement of diligent, Ārakkhasampadā is achievement of protection, Kalyāṇamittatā is asociation with good people and Samajῑvitā is living economically. 3) Self-dependence principle. 3) Self-dependence is the Dhamma principle which the Buddhism has taught us to know how to depend on ourselves without making trouble to anyone. One should know how to live for simple life, without making trouble to him and the others. This Dhamma principle is corresponded with His Majesty the King’s theory of self-economic philosophy. That is to say, HM the king has best owed this theory to people and supported the application of this idea among his people. Therefore, those who bring this theory to apply and practice will actually obtain the outcome as evidence.
The results of the application of Buddhadhamma principle for enhancement the people’s wisdom in Namrid Sub-district community, Muang district, Uttaradit province is found that the people in Namrid sub-district community have improved their well-being , made them loved and jealousy their local wisdom. They are willing to preserve and pass on the local wisdom of their ancestors for the next generations of people for leading a happy life as long as they could. In addition, the Namrid sub-district community is still use the HM the king’s theory of self-economic philosophy to be guideline for making a living along with using the local wisdom together.
