Abstract
The thesis entitled An Application of Gharàvàsa-dhamma for Personnel Working in the Information Technology Service Center, Chiang Mai University consists of three objectives as: (1) to study the doctrines of the Gharàvàsa-dhamma in Buddhism, (2) to study the working context of the Office of Information Technology Services, Chiang Mai University and (3) to study an application of Gharàvàsa-dhamma for personnel working in the Information Technology Service Center, Chiang Mai University.
This research was conducted by the qualitative research method and data were collected from 22 key formats included the executives and personnel by using the in depth interview and small group discussion.
The doctrines of Gharàvàsa-dhamma are considered as the virtues for a good household life. It consists of four virtues viz. truth, taming and training oneself, tolerance and liberality. Regarding the work context of personnel in the Office of Information Technology Services, Chiang Mai University, it focuses on the academic information technology services to students both inside and outside the university and to apply the information technology for benefit of their works of all levels to be effective.
The application of Gharàvàsa-dhamma in the Office of Information Technology Services, researcher has adopted the vision, mission, and values of organizational management to understand the context and workplace issues of the personnel. In addition, the Gharàvàsa-dhamma is analyzed for a solution to the problem.It was found that the mission of providing information technology and mission support, so that they adhere to the principles of tolerance. Due to the coordination with outsiders, they have to deal with the complaints of the patrons with patience. Another important principle is the liberality or generosity, the Office supports the university's policy and mission, therefore, the people in the organization upheld a sacrifice. Otherwise, the work will not achieve the goals and not effective enough. The executives should prioritize and review activities to improve the mental development of personnel based using the Gharàvàsa-dhamma.
