Abstract
The thesis entitled ‘A Study of Buddhist Aesthetics on Dhammasilapa Sculpture of Thongchai Srisuprasert’ consists of three objectives as (1) to study the conceptual ideal of Buddhist aesthetics, (2) to explore the Thongchai Srisuprasert’s conceptual ideal on art creation and style and (3) to analyze the Buddhist Aesthetics on Thongchai Srisuprasert’s Sculpture entitled ‘Dhammasilapa’.
The results revealed that the Buddhist aesthetic is dealing with a study of beauty and art in Buddhism. It also expresses the beauty of human and nature.
Regarding the Dhammasilapa Sculpture, it expressed the telegraphic agency of losing and fulfillment in the worldly life based on the craving and desire. Therefore, it was the creation of visual art with the imaginative shapes of creatures that called surrealism.
The study also found that sculpture is related to the morality or the so-called art of virtue. It is not only the art of beauty, but it also the art of morality.
