Abstract
Thesis title “An Analytical Study Karen sakor’s Hand Tying Ritual Along of Buddhist Ethics” has 3 objectives which are 1. to study Buddhist Ethics from the Tripitaka 2. to study Karen sakor’s Hand Tying Ritual 3. to analyze Karen sakor’s Hand Tying Ritual Along of Buddhist Ethics. Result of this qualitative study showed that;
A. Buddist Ethics is a principle of living according to the buddhist doctrine by using judement and problem solving based on rightful morality pattern.Twodharmic principles were specified in the buddhist scripture which were 1. The truth is natural facts. 2. Moral is a instruction which has a characteristic in persuadeor refrain to do something by using moralitydecision making criterions i.e 1. 3 misconducts 2. 3 good conducts and also focusing on intention as a core for consideration.
B. Karen sakor’s hand tying ritual is a traditional that Karen sakor has done for many generation. This ritual is implemented together in community with beliefs in Morale that losing or flee of Morale can cause the Morale’s owner to be illness and cause of sickness.Therefore, hand tying ritual has to be done in order to keep or bait "Morale " back to the previous owner. Three are two sakor’s hand tying ritual yearly in February and August. Duration of this ritual is for 3 days and resulting in happiness of mind and body.
C. the Hand tying ritual along of buddhist ethics was found that sakor’s hand tying ritual does not comply with the buddhist ethics as part of bodily misconduct as animals were killed to be part of this hand tying ritual so that doing bodily good conduct on omit to kill animal is impossible.For bad conduct in wordcanbe treated by good conduct in word and bad conduct in thought can be treated by good conduct in thought. Nevertheless, this hand tying ritual aim for usefulness of his/herself and others.
