ABSTRACT
The research consisted of three main objectives: i) to study community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province; ii) to study and compare level of people’s opinions concerning community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province; and iii) to study problems, obstacles and suggestions in community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province. This research was used by Mixed Methods in which the Quantitative Research was used to determine Survey Research. The sampling group consited fo 370 people living in community of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province, and Qualitative Research was conducted by in-depth interview with 14 key informants particularly collected from experienced persons and luminaries. The collected data were analyzed by using statistical techniques for social science research such as Frequencies, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. To test the hypotheses, t-test, F-Test (One Way Analysis of Variance) and Least Significant Difference : LSD were employed. On the other hand, an analysis of interview-data was used by Descriptive Interpretation.
The findings of the study are as follows:
1) From the study, community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization Palian District Trang Province was totally found that the most respondeuts are 211 women on average of 57.5%, 141 ones aging between 30-41 year-old on average of 38.4%, 103 ones qualified secondary school on average of 28.1%, 165 ones working in agriculture on average of 45.0%, 134 ones being of income a year between 80,000-120,000 Baht on average of 36.5%.
2) The levels of people’s opinions in community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province were totally found at the medium level ( = 3.10). Having considered aspects: Transportation and Infrastructure, Economy, Politics and Administration, Education, Culture and Local Wisdom, Natural Resources and Environment, and Quality of Life and society, all aspects have been found in medium levels, too.
3) From the comparison of levels of people’s opinions in community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province, classified by personal factors, it was found that difference of people’s age, level of education, occupation, and income per year have effects to community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province, accepting formulated hypotheses with statistical significance at the level of 0.01. and difference of people’s gender has no effects to community development of the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization, Palian District, Trang Province, denying formulated hypotheses.
4) The problems and obstacles were found as follows: aspect of Transport and infrastructure: the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization lack funds to repair roads; Economic: price of goods slumps down; Politics and Administration: the Thungyao Sub-district Administrative Organization unable to manage projects to be effective as it should be; Quality of life and society: the drug is still prevalent in the community. While, the suggestions are as follows: the budget should be added to repair roads sufficiently; the agricultural cooperative should be established as a products-center of community; there should be a major project of community development project; there should be a monitoring program and provide opportunities for those hooked on the social regular person.
