ABSTRACT
This research consists of main 3 objectives: 1) to analyze the concept, theory and Buddhadhamma conforming to the social development; 2) to study the Buddhist integrated social development for young people in Bangkok; and 3) to present the model of Buddhist integrated social development for young people in Bangkok. It is the Qualitative research with the help of In-depth Interview to group of involved experts, the documentary analysis, qualitative analysis from in-depth interviews, and focus group discussion consisting of 10 scholars and experts. Additionally, the in-depth interviews data was collected from 25 key-informants. The result of the research would be presented to concerned agents for furthering to Buddhist integrated social development for young people in Bangkok.
The findings of the study are as follows:
The Buddhist concept relating to social development is regarded as the principles of good practice for society. Additionally, precepts (silas) and social intention should be integrated for the youths to strengthen the physical, verbal and mental structure. And also the youths should be trained to abstain from false speech and malicious speech, greed and hatred.
The Buddhist integrated social development for young people is to be applied with dana (charity), caga (sacrifice) and to abstain from several kinds of harm for physical development; piyavaca (kindly speech) for verbal development; Samadhi (concentration) for mental development with the purpose of to realize oneself. Additionally, every individual should always try to meditate and to increase gentleness, gracefulness and service-mind including wisdom development for society.
From the study of Buddhist integrated social development for young people in Bangkok, it has been found model for Buddhist integrated social development for young people and would be presented to nurture and stimulate young people study and follow the principle of Traisikkha (Threefold Training) consistently to physical, verbal and mental. Additionally, it has been also found the model to organize some activities in order to reinforce knowledge for young people with Dhammic children’s governing dimension in beginning and dimension of grateful family, public mind and concentration.
Additionally, from the study of Buddhist integrated social development for young people in Bangkok, it has been found cognitive concept of applying precept in society as the moral structure, and the youth’s knowledge based activities conforming to physical, verbal and mental with the help of model of Buddhist integrated social development for young people in which young people adjust to dimension of environmental relation, and good relation with individual, family and whole community.
