The Participation of Monks in the Five Precepts Village Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province

Abstract

ABSTRACT

The objectives of this research were : 1) to study the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province, 2) to study the comparison of the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province, 3) to study the problems and suggestions about the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province. The sampling group was 184 monks in Phanomtuan district, Kanchanaburi province. The research is a mixed research methodology between quantitative and qualitative researches. The statistics are used for the data analysis through such as percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D), F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance and Least Significant Difference : LSD., and the data analysis from interview was used by the content analysis technique.

 

The findings of this research as follows :

1. The monks had the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province. It is a good level for overall with an average at 3.564. When considered in each side, found that the monks had the participation in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province, for co-thinking, co-practicing were at good level and co-decision and co-follow and evaluation were at the middle level. For the highest average was co-practicing with an average at 4.192 and the lowest average side was the participation with an average at 2.926.

2. The findings of comparison of the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province, classified by personal data and tested the hypothesis, found that the monks were the questionnaire correspondents who had the difference of age, ordination year, general education and Dhamma education, had the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province differently with significance of statistics at 0.05. It accepted the hypothesis. But the monks who had the difference of the Pali education, had the participation of monks towards five precepts Project in Phanomtuan district, Kanchanaburi province indifferently. It rejected the hypothesis.

3. The problems and obstacles about the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province, and found that lacking of participation in planning the work and no harmony to continuous work, short period of time, and lack of following and evaluation of the project. For suggestions, should have the activity about five precepts village project and make the public relations about information and news, have the work cooperation and support to have the information to follow and evaluate and to use the benefits and improve the plan and five precepts village project. The guidelines to support to the participation of monks in the Five Precepts Project in Phanomtuan District, Kanchanaburi Province, and found that activity procedure should have the meeting for listening the opinions and co-decision for the action plan by choosing the project with co-decision by having the objective of the project for Buddhists to have the five precepts to use in daily life and must have to follow and evaluate the project about the possibility of project and objectives of project and for co-solve the problems.
