The use of electrical energy is essential for mankind in daily life in all parts of Thailand. According to the statistics of electricity consumption in Thailand since the National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 1 in 1962, the trend of electricity consumption continues to increase every year. The main factor is economic growth from exports, employment and domestic consumption due to the increase in population. With the rising trend in electricity consumption and the extravagant direction, if there is no efficient energy resource management in the future, Thailand may face a crisis of energy. Government agencies have issued energy saving measures such as the Energy Conservation Promotion Act, 1992, the Royal Decree on the Establishment of a Control Building, 1995 to develop energy technology to be most effective.
Sappurisa Dhamma consists of 1) the knowledge of the root cause 2) the knowledge of the reason 3) the knowledge of the mind 4) the knowledge of modesty 5) the knowledge of time 6) The knowledge of social and community and 7) the knowledge of the people. It is the principle of the good people who possess the perfect person, have a good life style, know the modesty in consumption and use the four factors in the Buddhist economy. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has introduced the sense principle into the principle of Sufficiency Economy. It is a way of moderation and is used to develop a simple life. This concept can be applied to save energy, reduce losses, and raise awareness of the value of electricity.
Energy saving is a duty of everyone. By implementing Sappurisa Dhamma and guide the sufficiency economy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej used to live, especially the use of electricity, less comfort and reduce energy consumption, for example, opening the air conditioning to appropriate the body temperature, turn off unnecessary lights, is the most valuable and useful resource. Energy saving is not only a means of preserving natural resources in the future, but also contributing to the self and community.
