An Analytical Study of Dhammavinaya as based on Thai Manners

Abstract

Abstract

This research to study the views about manners in Thai society to study of manners on the principles Dhamma-vinaya in Theravada Buddhism and to the analytical study of the principles Dhamma-vinaya as based on the Thai manners (3) to the analytical study of the Thai manners on the ultimate liberation. This study is a qualitative research.   

The results of the study found that:

Thai manners on the views of Thai society means the manner which is done in our society such as the appropriate rule, the reasonable pattern that covered on the manners etc. in the act of standing, walking, sitting, sleeping, receiving and sending, respecting, giving and serving, saying, conversation, speaking, dressing, personal act, including all of personal one have to be done in the activity in ritual performance of every one must be done.

Thediscipline (Vinaya) as based on Thai manners. It was found that : Abhisamacara is the principle of the higher training in proper conduct of Bhikkus  and Sekhiyavatta  is the seventy-three of the rules for training the rules of good breeding of Bhikkhus that they must be study for training rules the  manners to suitable in Bhikkuhood and to be make a faith occurs for the watcher person. The Dhamma (Doctrine) as based on Thai manners : Apajayanadhamams (discipline to be gained through being respectful), Gavaradhamma (respecting Dhamma), Jattaro Sangahavatthu (four basses of social solidarity),  Vajasuphasit  (well spoken speech), Bhahavihara (Holy abiding),  Sattasuppurisadhamma (Quality of a good man Balanced) Samajivita (livelihood), Tiddhadhammikattha-samparayikatthadhamma (virtues connective to benefits in the present time), Matapitu–Upatthanang (support of mother and father), etc. In addition to, Thai moralities that happen form the discipline as based on the ultimate liberation or achieved to the Dhamma from the result of this studying was found that : There are Agati (wrong course of behavior), Lokapala-dhamma (virtues that protect the world), Sobhanakarana-dhamma (gracing virtues), Sikkha (the threefold learning) Apannaka-patipasa (unimpeachable path), Appamada (heedfulness) and Satipatthana (foundations of mindfulness),  etc. From all these Dhamma principles, it’s so called the best manners which based on a beauty of human : a beautiful personality, a beautiful verbal, a beautiful consciousness, a beautiful thought, and a beautiful wisdom. And in addition to, this study results to links up still to other Dhamma (doctrine) that is ; from the mundane states to supramundane states.
