Abstract
The research “Strengthening the Stability of Buddhism of Lamphun Provincial Office of Buddhism” aims to study 1) policies and plans to sustain the stability of Office of Buddhism, Lamphun Province, 2) missions to strengthen stability of Buddhism by the office, and 3) guidelines to support the role of the office in order to strengthen stability of Buddhist religion. The research method is qualitative research by in – depth interview with 15 key informants and descriptive analysis.
The result of the study suggests;
1. The Buddhism of Lamphun Provincial Office of Buddhism receives policies from the National Office of Buddhism and follows the strategies by establishing plans and projects for monks to practice. However, the evaluation of the plans and projects has not been implemented by the Buddhism of Lamphun Provincial Office.
2. The Buddhism of Lamphun Provincial Office of Buddhism operates 6 strategies defined by the National Office of Buddhism, which are: 1) to develop monk’s education, 2) to publicize proper information of Buddhism, 3) to increase potential of Buddha Monthon as the centre of the world’s Buddhism, 4) to become an excellent organization, 5) to promote public welfare, and 6) to develop public facilities.
3. Strengthening the Stability of Buddhism of Lamphun Provincial Office of Buddhism composes of 6 missions, which are 1) to promote monk’s education by supporting Buddhism department and Pali department and general department, facilitating educational media, funding monks and novices and creating a model of Buddhist scion, 2) to publicize Buddhism by arranging meditation retreat for juveniles, promoting temples resource centres, and encouraging knowledge, practice and enlightenment in Buddhist scions, 3) to improve potential of Buddha Monthon as the centre of the world’s Buddhism by establishing it the centre of religious activities as well as authorizing missionaries domestically and abroad, 4) to develop to the excellence organization by improving working system to make it faster, 5) to support public welfare by founding a network of public centers for social welfare throughout the province, 6) to develop public facilities by supporting projects of human resource development for the temple’s officers.
