The Development of the Police Life Quality at Muang Nakhonsawan Police Station

Abstract

 

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the life quality of the police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Province, 2) to compare the quality of the police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Provinceby classifying on the personal factors, and 3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions for the life quality development of the police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Province.

This research applied the Mixed Methods Research consisting of the qualitative and quantitative research. The sample was 173 police from 304 police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Provinceby the Taro Yamane formula. The tools of the research were questionnaire with the 0.947 of reliability and in-Depth interview from the 7 key informants. The statistics for analysis data used Frequencies, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test and F-test with One Way ANOVA and Least Significant Difference: LSD.)

Results of the Research

1. Overall,the levelof thelife quality development of police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Provincewas at the high level ( = 3.52). When considering each aspect, it arranged from the high to low level: the stability and progress in the working( = 3.69), the constitutionalism ( = 3.54),the pay sufficient and fair ( = 3.52), the work conditions considering the safety and the health and sanitation( = 3.52), the life chance ( = 3.51), considering the social demand ( = 3.49), the opportunity in the development of the personal capability( = 3.47),  and the social integration ( = 3.42).

2. The comparison of the levelof thelife quality development of police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Provinceby classifying on the personal factors found that the police having the different sex, age, degree of education, and level of the rank had no the different opinion towards thelife quality development of police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Province. Therefore, the hypothesis was denied.However, the police having the differentfield had the different opinion towards thelife quality development of police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Province at 0.05 of statistical significance. Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted.

3. The problems, obstacles, and suggestions for thelife quality development of police in MuangNakhonsawan Police Station, NakhonSawan Province were thatthe income and the pay were insufficient, the work conditions were not safe, the modern tools and equipment was insufficient to the working, did not promote the development of working capability, had the insufficient budget in the capability development from the organization, did not promote the  extra education, did not support the  funds and expenses in the social integration, and did not support the tools for helping in the social integration. Moreover, the commanders had the rule and regulation in expressing the opinion and held the regulations extremely. The organization held to force the person for sacrificing everything to the organization. The commanders  focused on the working more than the public working. The social demand wanted the organization responsible to the society, but the society did not give the importance. The outcome of working was not accepted in the society.

 

The suggestions were that the organization should adjust the pay suitable to the economic situation, allocate the pay fairly, have the security standard in the working safety, provide the modern tools sufficient to the personnel, promote the development of working capability, support the sufficient budget in the capability development from the organization, and  promote the police  in  the higher education. Moreover, the commanders should support and promote the subordinates to progress, support the funds and expenses in the social integration, support the tools for helping in the social integration, give the knowledge and understanding to the subordinates, be flexible in the working, improve the personal administration, study the form of the working, cultivate the positive feeling to delete the negative feeling from the society, and make the acceptance and credibility in the working of the police.
