Abstract
The research entitled ‘The Management of Garbage Problem with Participation of Households in Sandonrom Community, Lamphun Province’ consisted of three objectives as follows: 1) to study the concept of the management of household garbage problem in Sandonrom community, Lamphun municipality, 2) to study the methods of the management of household garbage problem in Sandonrom community, Lamphun municipality, and 3) to apply the principles leading never to decline but only to prosperity (Aparihaniyadhamma) to management of household garbage problem in Sandonrom community, Lamphun municipality. The methodology of this study was a qualitative research. The dissertation tool was the in-depth interview and the samples were 15 householders.
The results were found as follows:
1) The concept of the management of household garbage problem in Sandonrom community, Lamphun municipality: the problem of household garbage in Sandonrom community was originated from the Sandonrom which was a large community and surrounded by many schools, shops, restaurants, and many people came to live, to study and to work in this community. Then many people also suffered from this problem because some people dropped garbage wherever they wanted, some dropped garbage in the deserted area, some dropped garbage into the public drain, so these habits were caused many problems. After that, they started the concept of the management of household garbage problem in Sandonrom community by having meetings to find out how to manage the house garbage problem in their community.
2) The methods of the management of household garbage problem in Sandonrom community, Lamphun municipality were used in many forms as follows. Every householder in Sandonrom community was invited to the meeting through the announcement of community speakers and they were explained to understand the household garbage problem and how to change the household garbage into the valuable things. Lamphun Municipality officers were invited to teach people in Sandonrom community how to eradicate the household garbage correctly. Then some representatives in Sandonrom community were trained how to eradicate the household garbage correctly with the Lamphun Municipality and they had study trips to the different communities who were successful in the management of garbage problems. After that, they had meetings and set up the committees to eradicate the household garbage correctly. The committees made campaigns to encourage the householders to take good care of their house and ask them to divide the household garbage. Then they could sell the recycled garbage to the garbage bank of the committees. In addition, people in Sandonrom community were encouraged to be aware of the garbage value and the garbage division. They should also not drop the garbage wherever they want and eradicate the garbage in their community regularly.
3) The householders in Sandonrom Community, Lamphun municipality also apply the principles leading never to decline but only to prosperity (Aparihaniyadhamma) to management of household garbage in the community as follows: they held regular and frequent meetings, they met together in harmony and disperse in harmony, they discussed the management of household garbage problem and find out the ways to eradicate the household garbage correctly. They also followed their community leader, committees, and the concerned municipal officers. Some Ladies in the Sandonrom community were supported to have some works such as to divide the garbage in the garbage bank and to invent the local product from the recycled things. People also took good care of their house, temples, schools and government offices. They were encouraged and taught to eradicate the garbage correctly with the Lamphun Municipality regularly.
