Abstract
The objectives of the thesis entitled “Police Station Development for Being Buddhist Way Police Station of Mae Wang Police Station, Chiang Mai Province” were as follows: 1) to study the morality, the ethics in police officer working. 2) to study the operation analysis of police station development in order to be police station of Buddhist way. and 3) to present Buddhist Way Police Station for people at Mae Wang police station, Chiang Mai province. This research is conducted by qualitative research method and to in depth interview with a group of key information 15 persons including the 1st group consisted of 3 chief of polices and police officers, the 2nd group consisted of 3 Buddhist scholars and the 3rd group consisted of 9 officials and people who live in the area.
The findings of this research were found as follows:
1) The morality, the ethics should have police officer (individual), including loyalty, honesty, good conscience, observing the precepts, practicing according to middle way, the right to life, melodious speech, compliance regulations of police, know their roles and there is always their development. The morality, the ethic for working of police officer ought to base on the principle of code of ethics and conduct of the police act B.E. 2551 including working with people by equality that based on the validity of the law, must not discriminate, impartial or bias there are transparent, ready to perform, enthusiasm and willingness towards the people services, self-sacrifice for common interest, endurance, tolerance, responsibility in working by diligence, perseverance, sedulousness, sacrifice and bravery.
2) Development guidelines of Mae Wang police station in order to be Buddhist Way Police Station, it found that should arrange the religious activities at police station, to arrange the place of police station according to Buddhist way ought to arrange the religious activities at police station, personnel development ought to campaign and cultivate the Dhamma to police and ought to improve the quality of life by using the principle of Tilakkhana (the three characteristics) includes Sila (Virtue), Samadhi (Concentration) and Paññã (Wisdom).
3) The model of police station of Buddhist way for people at Mae Wang police station, Chiang Mai province found that should practice 2 ways: namely (1) Integrating the three characteristics (Tilakkhana) for developing Buddhist Way Police Station by promoting the virtue (Sila), the concentration (Samadhi) and the wisdom (Paññã) include to campaign and cultivate the Dhamma and to arrange the activities. The police officer can perform and concern with the Buddhist way of life that integrated with improving the quality of life by behaving according to the five precepts. Economy development with right livelihood does not cheat, extort and bully people. Social development with sacrifices are munificence each other. Physical health development with exercise is to refrain from drug abuse and consumption. (2) Image development Buddhist Way Police Station ought to place development by providing the Buddha image room for chanting, station have to clean. There are the clean bathroom, the parking facilities, the enough places for service users and ought to the application of the principle of Sangahavatthu-s with service people, the principle of Agati with investigation and the principle of Sappurisa-dhamma with management and personnel development.
