Abstract
The purposes of this study were 1) to examine the Kruba way as a cultural capital in Huay Tom community, Li district, Lamphun province, 2) to find out the Kruba way and development of strength community, 3) to investigate the moral values of Kruba way as a tool of community development in in Huay Tom community, Li district, Lamphun province. This research was conducted by using the qualitative research methodology and the data collected by using in-depth interview with the key of informant 18 persons from Buddhist ecclesiastical officials. The tools used in structured interviews by analyzing data content (Content Analysis Technique) and then presented in a descriptive form.
The findings of this research as follows:
1) Kruba way as a cultural capital was found that the concept basis of bringing culture to develop for value. It affected to the way of life and well-being excellently. Kruba Chaiyawongsaphattana propagated Buddhism, Venerable taught the tribal to pay respect in Budhism, followed the teaching of Buddha, Venerable practiced meditation for example, made Karen occupations with land for doing agriculture and resident, live with community. Venerable built the community for easy administer, Venerable had kindliness to build city plan of tidy community, including water system, electricity system and public utility for community convenience, there was discussed the Dhamma with community leader and propagated the Dhamma to Karen by storytelling for the villagers considered themselves and understood in the principle by natural way because Dhamma means “nature” that was cultural capital according to Buddhism
2) Kruba way and development of strength community in Huay Tom was found that Krubachaiyawongsaphattana after Venerable propagated the Dhamma to Karen by storytelling, Venerable propagated Buddhism by sermon, moralizing and composing workings from remarkable composition. At the present, Venerable is an example in eating vegetarian, donated for supporting temple fund, school fund, hospital fund and restoration of religious places for the villagers understand in Dhamma more and more, including the promoting occupation by community representatives to learn various occupations for transferring knowledge to community. They can make income to community, including silverware, hand weaving, fabric processing, Blacksmith, laterite mining and basketry. There are the development of products (OTOP) of community and accepted from customers and tourist that can make famous to community until the present. Venerable built community leader for administering in community development in Huay Tom Village. Meanwhile, Venerable applied the Dhamma principle for mental development and applied in development of further strength community.
3) The ethical values of Kruba way as a tool of community development was found that the practicing principle of Krubachaiyawongsaphattana practiced by using the principle of Dhamma in Buddhism for propagating Dhamma guidelines coupled with advancing of community development, including thought, intelligence, living. The principle of Buddha teaching was compass to take life to sustainable prosperity. It was the ethical values in Buddhism, including Prahmavihara IV, Panca Sila V, Sangahavatthu IV, Iddhipada IV, the principles of democratic participation, the principle of harmony and sacrifice. These principles were the ethical values of Krubachaiyawongsaphattana to bring development of strength community through until the present day.
4) The interview result was found that the key informants, most of them integrated with the principles and applied in community of Huay Tom village on different occasions. The villagers were proud toward invaluable cultural capital in Huay Tom village, lived happily with cultural capital that they have it. The community leaders have development guidelines of strength community and organization more and more. Meanwhile, there was conservation of cultural traditions and promoting occupation for making income to community. All people have the same way of life that were working every day, no working on Buddhist day or Buddhist holiday, they took their family to make merit vegetables.
