Clarified data are taken from the Theravada Buddhist scriptures and other related documents, then composed, summarized, analyzed, explained in details, corrected and verified by Buddhist scholars. From the study it found that;
Sensual desire means things which blocks mind with five sensual pleasures. There also were other mental objects taking place with sensual desire; contact, impulse, greed (Lobha). Sensual desire hindrance having greed mental concomitants as its root was grouped in unwholesome consciousness. It blocked the mind from being peaceful and contemplating. There were two causes of sensual desire hindrance; 1) beautiful sign and 2) distracted attention. There was no benefit of sensual desire for insight practice hence meditators should abandon this hindrance for advance level of insight development.
Vipassana meditation was a mental practice for realization of four noble truths. It was a way to observe what is happening in order to realize truths by observing Nāma and Rūpa (Name and Form) as objects of insight knowledge until realizing as impermanent, unsatisfactory and non-self. For insight practice one must follow principle of Mahasatipatthana consisting of four contemplations; bodily (Kāya), feeling (Vedanā), mental conditions (Citta) and Dhamma and observe true nature of reality until he sees changing, rise and fall of name and forms through various state of insight knowledge. Insight knowledge will destroy covetousness and a painful mental feeling leading a man to attain Magga (path), Phala (fruit) and Nibbana as best benefit.
The abandonment of sensual desire hindrance was to abandon the cause as well as supportive dhamma of sensual desire hindrance; 1) beautiful sign and 2) improper attention through cultivating six proper considerations; 1) Observing loathsomeness 2) Loathsomeness development 3) Five sense-faculties preventing
4) Moderation in eating 5) Having good friend and 6) Dhamma talks with insight development then contemplating on name and form at the present until realizing true nature of everything. This insight knowledge will uproot latent dispositions leading to Magga (path) fruit (Phala) and Nibbana which is final goal of Buddhism. Sensual desire hindrance can be completely uprooted when attaining the state of Arahattamagga or enlightenment path.
