Abstract
This Thesis has three objectives, to study the Dhamma principles in Kalyāṇamitta Sutta, to study the principles in practicing Vipassanā meditation, and to study Vipassanā meditation in Kalyāṇamitta Sutta. Clarified data are taken from the Theravada Buddhist scriptures and other related documents, and then composed, summarized, analyzed, explained in details, corrected and verified by Buddhist scholars. From the study it found that;
Kalyāṇamitta Sutta is the Suttapţaka in which Dhammasanghītikācārñ had compiled and revised in the Sangyutta Nikāya Scripture, Mahavāra section, which is a Sutta classified in the Suriapeyyāla section. The Dhamma principle which is the main point that he had written in the Kalyāņamitta Sutta is that he pointed out the introspection of any Dhamma that fulfills the Noble Eightfold Paths that has not become eight to become eight or that has already become eight to prosper like Kalyāṇamitta.When practicing the Noble Eightfold Paths, if a person practices good enough, he will finally become one without lust, rage, or anger. It was also found that the Dhamma principle in Kalyāṇamitta Sutta which is Kalyāṇa-Mitta.
The principles of Vipassanā Meditation stated that Vipassanā means to know thoroughly, to know miraculously, or to see with one’s great knowledge, then enter into the path of Nibbāna. For one to enlighten in Vipassanā to achieve the teachings of the Four Noble Truths, one needs to use Kalyāṇamitta as his fundamentals, follows his teachings, then practices the four Foundations of Mindfulness to be free from sufferings. The Buddha, the individual Buddha and his noble followers in the four infinities of our times and any other times had achieved to get rid of all defilements by using an only path, the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.
To practice Vipassanā Meditation in Kalyāṇamitta Sutta, it was found that the important Dhamma principle in practicing Vipassanā Meditation as in Kalyāņamitta Sutta is to depend on Kalyāņamitta or to have accompanied with the good friends (sapuriasaṁsera) . It is the first part that leads to the Noble Eightfold Path by using the Dhamma principles that will be the fundamental supports in order to achieve Dhamma, which are Sampadā, Vuḍhidham, the Threefold Learning etc. will help the Vipassanā Meditation the achievement of the Magga Phala and Nibbāna.
