Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to study the Buddhist Precepts Observation of lay followers at Wat Jantr Pradittharam Meditation Center, Bangkok’s Bhasicharoen District, and their contentment gained from the conduct. The specific sampling group of 145 persons is randomly selected from those observing the precepts and also practices meditation at the temple’s Meditation Center. Statistical used to conduct the research were analyses of basis data, i.e. percentage, average of and Standard Deviation. The Chi-Square: is used as analytical tool for the research objective. The research found that:
The sampling group possesses high level of general contentment. The majority of the group has pleasant feeling when they can help others who are in troubles and will assist them when opportunity allows. It is also found that family members bounded well and have ties of affection among them. In behavior comparison between those who have taken and those who have not taken the Buddhist precepts, the research found that the sampling group possesses no significant different levels, at 0.05, for happiness they received.
In studying difficulties concerning the building of faith and interest in the Dhamma practice the majority of the sampling group feels tired and dejected with their daily life. They feel that life is full of sufferings that they are disappointed with themselves. However, the majority of the sampling group was confident that they could control themselves when it’s time to face with serious or critical moments.
