Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to study the attitude of Buddhist followers towards the Chanting for the New Year Welcoming Program at Wat Chalor Ampher Banggruay in Nonthaburi province. The sampling group consists of 290 persons. Statistical used to conduct the research were analyses of basis data, i.e. percentage, average of and Standard Deviation. The T-Dependence and Analysis of Covariance (ANOVA) are used as analytical tools for the research objective. The research found that:
The sampling group, studied under the four different topics, resulted as follows: 1) in Faith – the group believe that this program would gain them merit, but they did not have a chance to invite relatives and friends to join in. 2) in Participation - the group believe that the program would support them in gaining happiness because of the dhana they have donated, but they did not have a chance to invite relatives and friends to join in this donation. 3) in Achievement - the group believe that this program would support, maintain and sustain Buddhism. However, they did not have a chance to invite relatives and friends to join in the donation and to participate in the program. and 4) in Satisfactoriness - the group was contented with place preparation but not happy with the less quality and quantity of food and drink provided.
When divided by genders, the research found that male and female have their attitude differ significantly at the percentage of 0.05. When divided by ages, participants have their attitude on Faith, Participation and Satisfactoriness of the program differ significantly at the percentage of 0.05
