Abstract
This thesis has three objectives, to study the sufferings the three characteristics in Theravada Buddhist Scripture, to study the suffering in the Four Noble Truths in Theravada Buddhist Scripture and to study the suffering in three Characteristics and in the Four Ariyasuccas in developing Vipassana Bhavana by studying the data from Theravada Buddhist Scriptures, The Pali Canon the connected Commentaries and Sub- Commentary, such as Visudithimagga Scripture etc. which are composed by the experts.
From the study It is found that the suffering means the thing which is not easy to bear, and not permanent. The person with defilement who cling to the temperament will be in suffering. Mostly the suffering arise to the person with little wisdom. Who is not used to practice the Dhamma to have some wisdom knowing the suffering which appears in the Three principle divisions which there are the Three groups of Dhamma namely the suffering in Felling the three Characteristics and the Four Noble Truths.
Three Characteristics means the Existing nature which not permanent and always changing as said by the Buddha that what is impermant is suffering and all conditioned things are in suffering.
The suffering in the Four Noble Truths means the state arising in the Five aggregates is impermanent and always changing. However one can extinguish the suffering with wisdom knowing the form, the Sound, the smell, the taste, the bodily touch and the mental temperament.
The development of the Insight Meditation is the development of the wisdom to realize the real state of the body. This fact is the highest target in developing the Insight Meditation. In Theravada Buddhism the development of the Insight Meditation must depend on pukkha Ariyasacca because Dukkra Ariyasacea is the suffering in The Three Characteristics. The suffering is one of the Four Noble Truths.
