Abstract
The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the level of participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province, 2) to compare the opinion to the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province by classifying on the personal factors, and 3) to study the problems, obstacles and ways for the development of the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province.
This research applied the Mixed Methods Research consisting of the qualitative and quantitative research. The sample was 377 people living in Thamai Sub-District. The tools of the research were questionnaire and in-depth interview from the 9 key informants. The analysis of data used Statistical Package for Social Science. The statistics for analysis data used Frequencies, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test and F-test with One-way ANOVA and Least Significant Difference: LSD.
Results of the Research
1. Overall, the level of the the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province was at the middle level ( =3.36). When considering each aspect, it was found that the participation in making the Subdistrict development plan was at the highest level (= 3.48). Then, the participation in doing the activities of the Sub-District Administrative Organization was (= 3.36), and the participation in checking the working of the Sub-District Administrative Organization was (= 3.30). However, the participation in presenting the problems in the community was at the lowest level (= 3.28).
2. The comparison of the opinion to the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province by classifying on the personal factors found that the people having the different gender, degree of education, and occupation had no the different opinion to the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province. Therefore, the hypothesis was denied. However, the people having the different age and income had the different opinion to the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province at 0.05 of statistical significance. Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted.
3. The problems and obstacles of the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province were that the Sub-District Administrative Organization did not pay attention to the people’s trouble and had not the public relations thoroughly. Moreover, the people had no knowledge and understanding in making the Subdistrict development plan. The people did not cooperate with the Sub-District Administrative Organization. The ways for the development of the participation of people in the administration of Thamai Sub-District Administrative Organization in Chum Saeng District, Nakhon Sawan Province were that the Sub-District Administrative Organization should pay attention to the people’s trouble and operate in the procedure of the Sub-District Administrative Organization. Moreover, Sub-District Administrative Organization should make the understanding to the people in making the strategic plan and the conscious in making the strategic plan. The Sub-District Administrative Organization should have the public relations in the activities continuously.
