Abstract
This thesis is of 3 objectives, namely:- 1. to study the problems arising to daughters in Thailand today 2. to study the Buddhist principles for teaching a daughter and 3. to study how to apply these principles to parent a daughter.
From the research, it is found that the changes caused by rapid development i.e. the integrated services digital network (ISDN) has caused the changes to the ways of living. The technology has turned into the basic necessity in life. The change of Government’s policy has affected on the adolescent especially the daughters. It leads to many major issues especially “Adolescents’ Pregnancy” which has become the national big issue.
The family plays a very important role in preventing the problems. Implementing the principles of Buddhist self-development method through the mother’s roles, as an ideal and the first teacher who inspires the daughter’s learning experiences. By considering everything which she has been involved with, since her early childhood. She, then, integrates with these experiences into her daily life.
The Threefold Training is a Buddhist Educational System that aims simultaneously to all three aspects which are the training in higher morality, in higher concentration, and in higher wisdom. This training is a principle used to solve the problems in life for the cessation of sufferings, the fact of which leads to the joy and the true freedom. The ultimate goal is to attain Nibb±na or the enlightenment. It is considered as a complete Dhamma practice that reflects the intentions to live well and to be happy in relating to the surroundings. The Threefold Training includes all the Buddha’s teachings, and performs its true practical use in the procedure.
The essence of morality (Sīla) is the intention. The concentration is the consciousness in everyday life as Appam±da (diligence), and the wisdom which primarily consists of Samm±diµµhi (right understanding). According to the Buddhist tenets, there are 2 strengthening factors:- Paratoghosa from a good source acting as a true friend and Yonisomanasik±ra.
So, this is a practical training paying attention to the relation of both internal and external factors. It is assigned to develop the people in the societies to live in equilibrium.
The result of this training is the entire physical, and verbal expression which reflects one’s training of oneself to the mindfulness and the wisdom way of life. Besides, knowing the welfare of one’s own, others, and both, one will not cause any problem to arise. The most important thing is that one achieves a life of virtue and righteousness.
For family development, there should be more principles which are 6 Dis±s showing the duties towards one another, the house-life happiness for householder’s well-being, and the virtues for a good household life to conduct the husband-wife relationship.
Beside the five precepts, the Brahmavihāra and Saªgahavatthu allow the virtuous cohabitation to arise in the societies. One who aims to the successful life should prepare oneself according to 4 Cakkas and the practising Iddhipāda. The goal of developing one’s life is of 3 benefits:- 1. the present benefit, 2. the future benefit and 3. the greatest benefit, and should be realized on all three fronts:- 1. one’s own benefit 2. other people’s benefit and 3. benefit to both parties.
