Research results are found that: Pa suk la in Pali means a robe made of rags taken from dust-bins having been permitted by the Buddha as cloths for monks ranging to twenty-three kinds. Pa suk la is one of the four on which a monk depends. A monk has to be content with the one acquired. Pa suk la is also one of the thirteen austere practices for monk in order to get rid their defilements step by step.

The tradition of leaving a robe made of rags taken from dust-bins in Thai society had been succeeded from the Buddha’s time through age of generation until the reign of King Rama IV who had suggested people to leave such rags near the preaching hall of the temple so that a monk could pick up them to be prepared for use as cloths. Along with the cloths, other accessories for a monk are also provided. At present, this ceremony is one among items of meritorious action with procedure of giving offering ending with chanting the holy stanzas of blessings. However, Pa suk la ceremonies have been organized at present in order to acquired money and accessories to the temple more than other purposes.
