Abstract
The study of the models of the happy livelihood according to the Buddha’s Dhamma Principles for the elders is of 3 main objectives, namely:- 1. To study the livelihood of the elders 2. To study the ways to happy livelihood according to Buddha’s Dhamma Principles
3. To propose the models of the happy livelihood according to the Buddha’s Dhamma Principles for the Elders.
The research find that the livelihood of the elders studied from 1. The elders has been studied in 3 main areas, namely :- 1. Happiness for the elders can be fulfilled in 2 ways
1) By physical way 2) By mental way. 2. Obstacles for the elders livelihood which causes their unhappy lives are 2 main causes 1) Physical obstacle 2) Mental obstacle. 3. It is found out that the daily livelihood of the elders, and their thoughts for happiness are more than the 2 main areas mentioned. Most of elders are satisfied with their present models of daily lives, only a few want some changes. 2. Through the study from the principles and concepts from the experts all provide good suggestions to daily livelihood for the elders.
The happy livelihood for the elders according to the Buddha’s Dhamma Principles has detailed explanations in every aspects. In Buddhism, the way to happy life can be reached by the way of middle path. In Buddhist teachings, they are cleared and perfected in either theories and practising which Lord Buddha had practised and lead to Nirvana by the Lord Buddha himself. Thus the happy livelihood according to Buddhist teaching is the right way to more happiness for the elders.
The Models for the happy livelihood for the elders are integrated from the knowledge derived from the studies of the elders, principle and concepts from the experts and the Buddha’s Dhamma Principles can be grouped into 2 models, namely :- 1. Handbook for the happy livelihood for the elders according to the Buddhist Doctrines. 2. The daily lives for the elders to the happy livelihood. Model I, the researcher has summarized the handbook into 8 initials as GAPPSIDE :- (1) Goal-the goal to happy livelihood of different levels. (2) Attitude-the concepts to stay away from suffering and creating the happiness according to Buddhist Doctrines. (3) Principle-according to Buddhist Doctrines, consist of 5 items (3.1) Threefold learning (Ti Sikkhã)
(3.2) Performing the Four Noble Truths (3.3) Buddhist Principle as to happiness (3.4) Goal of daily lives (3.5) Responding to happiness (4) Right Path-the right path for daily lives that leads to happiness according to Buddha’s Dhamma Principles with 3 Middle Paths or the Noble Eightfold Path (4.1) Right Understanding (Sammãditthi) (4.2) Right Thought (Sammãsaṅkappӓ) (4.3) Right Speech (Sammãvãeã) (4.4) Right Action (Sammãkammanta) (4.5) Right Livelihood (Sammã ãjĩva) (4.6) Right Effort (Sammã vã yãma) (4.7) Right Mindfulness (Sammãsati) (4.8) Right concentretion (Sammãsamãdhi) (5) System of happy life : consists of 4 sides (5.1) Sense : Right Sense (5.2) Consumption : Right Consumption (5.3) Right Action : Right Thinking, Right Speaking, Right Communication, Right Relation (5.4) Right Solving : Rightly solving the problem. The word “right” refers to the appropriate ways to reach the goal to Kusala Chanda. (6) The Implementation or Procedure of happy life is of 2 sides (6.1) Purity, the personal instinct (Eariyã) 3 steps (6.1.1) Understanding the nature (6.1.2) Being harmonized with the nature (6.1.3) To liberize their minds, to be independent (6.2) To develop oneself to be of happy livelihood according to the Buddhist Principles by mean of The Noble Eightfold Path to build up by Right Understanding (Sammãditthi) and Right Thought (Sammãsaṅkappӓ) (6.3) Practicing the 10 bases of meritorious actions (Puññakiriyã-vatthu) (6.4) Developing the happy livelihood on 3 sides : to be related with the environment, to develop mentality and to develop the wisdom (7) The Dhammas for the happy life which are the foods of knowledge (Vijã) and Freedom (Vimutti), they are enlightenment factors 7 (Bojjhanga), the foundation of mindfulness 4 (Satipatthãna), the good conduct 3 (Sucarita), the control of senses (Indriya-sañvara), moderation in eating (Bhojana-mattaññutã), Awareness (Sati-sampajanna), Analytical thinking (Yonisomanasikãra), Faith (Saddhã), Good Law (Seddhamma) (8) To evaluate the happy life by development 4 Bhãvanãs (8.1) Physical Development (Kãya-bhãvanã) (8.2) Moral Development (Sĩla-bhãvanã)
(8.3) Emotional Development (Citta-bhãvanã) (8.4) Wisdom Development (Pañnã-bhãvanã). Model II, the researcher has designed a system into SCAS by utilized Model I and all good suggestions to daily livelihood for the elders into middle path of livelihood with wisdom which can be achieved by 4 sides (1) Sense-Right Sense (2) Consumption-Right consumption (3) Action-Right action (4) Solve the problem : Rightly solving the problem.
