ABSTRACT
This thesis “An Integration of the Principles of Buddhadhamma for Developing the Sustainable Quality of Life” had three objectives: (1) to study the problems related to the development of the sustainable quality of life, (2) to study the Principles of Buddhadhamma related to the development of the sustainable quality of life and (3) to propose the way of integration of Buddhadhamma for development of the sustainable quality of life. This was a qualitative research.
The research’s findings showed that the definition of Quality of life is a nature of well-being for individuals to live, including with the sufficiency and happiness to person in both of body and mind. This qualitative research was based on documentary review and analysis and also in-depth interviews with 16 key informants, consisting of 4 concerned areas : Buddhism, Social science, Education and Health science that related with the fact of Thai’s quality of life, the view point to develop a quality of life, the view point for the ways to solve a quality of life, the view point to bring the principles of Buddhadhamma to solve a quality of life and the view point for the ways to raise a quality of life to the sustainable quality of life. There were three approximate kinds of problems related to the Thais’ quality of life In terms of : (1) the adjustment of attitude and of sense of responsibility, (2) the creating an opportunity to have a sufficient income and a better life and (3) the health care of body and mind. The results were found that the most relevant effective principles of Buddhadhamma in solving those problems and being able to develop the Thais’ quality of life were (1) the principle of Yonisomanasikãra in order to adjust the attitude and support the sense of responsibility, (2) the principle of threefold training to integrate with the education for creating an opportunity to have a sufficient income and a better life and (3) the principle of a path of accomplishment to integrate with the holistic health care for healthy in both of body and mind.
In conclusion, the results of this study suggested that the way to integrate Buddhadhamma for the development of the sustainable quality of life needs : (1) to use the principle of Yonisomanasikãra in order to adjust the method and view point to determine behavioral patterns that consistent and appropriate for solving problems and improving the quality of life by the systematic continuing and (2) to apply the principle of threefold training for directing and supervising the main point of behavior by using together with the principle of a path of accomplishment for driven to raise the quality of life to the sustainable quality of life.
