ABSTRACT
The aim of this research were: 1) to determine the level of parental satisfaction with the educational management of the Buddhist Sunday School, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Wat Mahathadhuyuwarajarangsarit, Phranakhon District, Bangkok, and 2) to study the suggestions which is made by parents of students at the school, regarding the development of education there. The sample consisted of 179 parents. The tools were a questionnaire and interview. The statistics used in data analysis measured percentage, mean score, and standard deviation.
The findings of this research were as follows:
1. The level of parental satisfaction with the educational management of the Buddhist Sunday School, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Wat Mahathadhuyuwarajarangsarit, Phranakhon District, Bangkok, was rated at a high level overall. Considering all categories, parental satisfaction was at a high level. The category of educational management had the highest level of satisfaction, followed by curriculum content, learning activities, and welfare, respectively. The category of educational environment had the lowest level of satisfaction.
2. Suggestions for educational development at the Buddhist Sunday School were:
- Curriculum content: the content should have coherence with the basic core curriculum. Moreover, the curriculum should be developed to meet the educational standard and it should be up-to-date.
- Teaching and learning: language training should be conducted for students in preparation for the AEC.
- There should be a clarification of rules and regulations in teaching and learning management. The Buddhist Sunday School should hire foreign instructors to teach English or invite foreigners to converse with the students.
- Learning activities: More outside-classroom activities should be provided in some subjects, such as English. Students should have the opportunity to speak with foreigners. Buddhist teaching activities should be integrated with modern sciences. Recreational activities should be included in teaching and learning.
- Teaching and learning environment: The students should study in the same building for instead of studying more than one building in Bangkok Metropolitan School, since it is not convenient and not safe to travel between classes. The sanitation of the toilets should be improved. Monks who are instructors should demonstrate leadership in taking care of the students as well as giving advice to them.
- Welfare: More funds and learning materials should be provided for the students.
