Abstract
This Thesis is of three objectives, namely ; 1) to study the origin of the chanting stanza called Jinapañjara Gāthā 2) to study the Doctrinal principles as appearing in the chanting stanza called Jinapañjara Gāthā, and 3) to Analytical Study the values and the influence of the chanting stanza called Jinapañjara Gāthā toward the Thai societies.
This study is a documentary research by collecting the data from the three Baskets, the Commentaries, the literatures and the related documents and bringing them to be analyzed and simplified according to the principle of the research and later proposed the descriptive data.
From the research, it is found that the composer of this chanting stanza Wants to propose the idea about the viewpoints and the doctrinal principles appearing in this literary work. So, though the name of this stanza has been called differently, there is only one meaning, that is to say this stanza is of no conclusion about its origin, though there has been someone who has been of mental experience about this literary work Confirmed about this chanting stanza .
Such the confirmation was opposed by those who did not agree with the origin of the mentioned knowledge.
So, the record about this chanting stanza can be divided into 2 points, namely :
1. It is believed that it was composed in Sri Lanka by Ven. Phra Buddhaghosaraya
2. It is believed that it was composed in Thailand with 2 different viewpoints : 1) it is believed to be composed in Lanna period, by Ven. Phra Buddhaghosaraya ( To Brohmarangsi ). This chanting is of the important Doctrinal principles, Such as Dasa Ovadapatimokkha, Catu Ariyasacca, and Althe – Magga etc. Besides, this chanting stanza will give 3 virtues to the chanters, namely : the Buddhist values, the social values, and the personal value.
Moreover, this chanting stanza is of the influences to Thai societies, namely :
1. The belief in the Buddhist arts especially the power of the Buddhaguna of Somdej Wat Raghang and the Poetry in Buddhist arts possessed by Somdej Buddhacarya (To Brohmarangsi ). There is the honorable. name as The emperor of the “ Phra Gruang”
2. About the belief and the faith to Ven Phra Buddhacarya (To Brohmarangsi ) the people are of the views that if one incites the Jinapañjara Gāthā every day, one will Rave Somdej to with one every day.
3. The influence on the side of the ceremony to perform the merit by the a general persons who will bring this stanza to chanted.
