The objectives of this research were : (1) to study the condition of the
model of leadership development of abbots in Sangha Administration Region 14, (2)
to study the component element of the abbot leadership development of the
abbots in Sangha Administration of Region 14 and (3) to propose the development
model of the abbots leadership in Sangha Administration of Region 14.
The methodology was the mixed method between the qualitative and
quantitative researches. The qualitative research collected data from 20 key
informants, purposefully selected with structured in-depth-interview by face-to-face
in-depth-interviewing and also from participants in focus group discussion, analyzed
data by descriptive interpretation. The quantitative research collected data from 308
samples who were the abbots at Sangha Administration of Region 14.The data were
analyzed by the descriptive statistics; frequency, percentage, mean, standard
deviation.
Findings were as follows :
1. The opinions of the respondents towards the general condition of the
abbots’ leadership development model of the Abbots in Sangha Administration,
Region 14, by overall, were at high level with the average values at 3.79 and the
values of standard deviation at 0.67. The respondents’ opinions towards the
leadership development , ranging from high to low of average levels values were
ง
that leadership in propagation had the average value at 3.84, administration at 3.80,
education management at 3.73 and public welfares at 3.67. By overall they were at
high levels
2. The leadership development of the Abbots in Sangha Administration of
Region 14 emphasized the Abbots must have the knowledge in administration must
be able to control subordinates to conduct in the rules and regulations, must have
far sighted vision in monastery and community development , new technology
knowledge to support the administration. The Abbots’ leadership development was
divided into aspects as administration, education management, dissemination,
construction and renovation applying the management principles in four areas as of
the management of man, money, materials and management. These principles,
enhanced by Sanggahavattu; giving, sweet words, helpfulness and appropriate
conduct, were the great roles to develop the Abbots, the effective and perfect
leaders.
3. The proposed leadership development model of abbots in Sangha
Administration Region 14 was in accordance with the principle of 4 M’s model
consisting of Man , Money, Materials ,Management: 3.1 Leadership in man
management was to enhance the man controlling efficiency with good human
relations, justice, virtues, loving-kindness, personnel classification and controlling the
subordinates to abide by the practical rules and regulations of monasteries, 3.2
Leadership in money management was to have the appropriate financial plans to
use money in line with objectives and the systematic money allocations, 3.3
Leadership in materials management was to be able to plan for the materials and
equipment uses in line with the tasks, skillful in using materials and equipment in
construction and innovations and 3.4 Leadership in management was to have farsighted
vision, was to continuously learn the new knowledge to upgrade the
managerial, coordinating and human relations skills with good personality. The
application of 4 M’s management principle, enhanced by Sanggahavattu 4 could
develop the Abbots in the 14th Sangha Administration the more effective and perfect
leaders. |
