The objectives of the research entitled ‘Buddhist Strategies for Administration of Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section were; 1. To study the present status and problems in 4 areas of Phrapariyatthidhamma formal education schools in Bangkok, 2. To study the Buddhist strategies and application in Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section, and 3.To propose a model of Buddhist strategies for administration of Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section.
The qualitative research methodology was used in the study by structured in-depth-interview, and face-to-face in-depth-interview 24 key informants obtained by purposive random sampling, i.e. school managers, directors, experts in Buddhist strategies have management experiences in Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section, full-time teachers, part-time teachers, and concerning personnel from the government agency. The data were analyzed by descriptive interpretation.
The findings were as follows:
1. The present status and problems of Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section in Bangkok; (1) In the academic area; the administration emphasized the 8 groups of academic contents. The Buddhist subject was placed in the 4th groups containing sociology, religions and cultures. Some schools had more subjects than students’ ability to learn and the teachers were not qualified to teach, (2) The budget; schools had to plan and set strategies to cope with the government system. The budget was not sufficient and depended on the Office of Buddhism to allocate, (3) Personnel; teachers did not have relevant qualifications to the job, there were high turn-over rates that caused discontinuity in teaching and learning process. There was not fixed personnel to be responsible for the assigned duties. Learning promoting activities and registration work were not systematic because of shortage of personnel. (4) General works; there was not sufficient budget to expand the classrooms and buildings to cope with the increasing numbers of students. The limited space in the monastery compound was used for the highest benefits. The general status was lacking of budget and unsystematic management.
2. The application of Buddhist strategies in the administration of Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section were that; (1) the academic area, most Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section ols mainly applied the principles of Iddhiãda and the path of accomplishment in work, (2) the budget, Suppurisadhamma and good governance were applied in the management, (3) Personnel; Brahmaviharadhamma and Iddhipāda were applied, and (4) the general work; Iddhipāda and Suppurisadhamma were used.
3. A model of Buddhist strategies for administration of Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section were of 5 strategies; (1) the strategy of administrator leadership consisted of Brahmaviharadhamma, Samgahavatthu dhamma, and Suppurisadhamma were used to develop Buddhist heirs in quality, (2) Samgahavatthudhamma and good governance were used in the teamwork strategy to strengthen the administrative system to meet the standard, (3) Iddhipāda and Samgahavatthudhamma were used for recognition and comprehension strategies to make Thailand the center of Phrapariyattidhamma study, (4) strategy for administrator responsibility, Brahmaviharadhamma and Iddhipda were used to plan the Buddhism propagation both nationally and internationally, (5) strategies for planning and participation, Brammavihara, Sappurisadhamma and SWOT analysis were used to make Thailand the center of Buddhist studies.
In the Buddhist strategy for Phrapariyattidhamma schools, general education section, the administrators must have visions in developing the Buddhist heirs to accomplish with knowledge and virtues to push forward Thailand to be the center of Buddhism and Buddhist study, and learners were qualified to meet standards with the perfect body of knowledge and virtues of Dhamma. Education standards were high and a number of foreign students increased annually and the community was developed in the right way with better quality in life. Buddhism is the world religion, and there is a plan in Buddhist propagation nationally and internationally. |
