Abstract

               The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the efficiency of Sangha Administration in Muang District, Pathumthani  Province; and 2) to compare the efficiency of Sangha Administration in Muang  District, Pathumthani  Province by personal factors; and 3) to study the problems, obstacles and guidelines about the efficiency of Sangha Administration in Muang District, Pathumthani  Province. The survey research was carried out in this study. The samples used in this study were 245 Abbots and Monks, from all 39 temples. The tool for data collection in this research was questionnaire comprising check-list, rating scale and opened-end questions with reliability value equal to 0.8156. The program for social science research was employed for data analysis. The statistics used for it are frequencies, percentage, average means and standard deviation. The analysis was also done through t-test for analyzing the hypotheses in order to test the average difference between the two groups and f-test by one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) for testing the difference between the averages from three or more groups and accordingly test the difference of the average LSD (Least Significant Difference).

 

The results of research are found that ;

              1. The samples’ opinions toward the Sangha administration in Muang district, Pathumthani province was generally at high level (  = 3.93). When considering in-depth, the samples’ opinions toward each aspects were also at high level.

              2. When taking personal characteristic’s difference into account, it indicated that the differences of the characteristics; age, year of monkhood, educational qualification, Dhamma and Pali educational qualification did not lead to different opinions toward the Sangha administration. Consequently, the hypotheses were rejected.

              3. The problems obstructing the Sangha administration, Muang district, Pathumthani province, were; 1) budget scarcity, 2) lack of attention and 3) lack of knowledge and know-how among monks and novices in systematically managing monastic properties. Consequently, the research according to the study recommended three suggestions as followed; 1) Providing sufficient budget that could cover construction and renovation expense 2) Establishing Controlling committee 3) Providing sufficient training and assistances regarding the knowledge of monastery’s property management.
