The objectives of this research are : (1) to study the opinions of students on the teaching and learning of morality in school of Kaengkhoi District, Saraburi Province, (2) to compare the opinions of students on the teaching and learning of morality in schools of Kaengkhoi District, Saraburi Province, and (3) to study the problems and suggestions of moral teaching in educational institutions in Kaengkhoi District, Saraburi Province.
Sampling group in this research is the students in schools that the monks teaching morality in SaraburiProvince in the level of primary and secondary schools. The tools for research are check lists rating scale by data analysis of frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and, standard deviation.
The main findings of the research are as follows:
1. The sampling group whose answers to the questionnaires are of 278 peoples, is second grade of Dhamma studies with 59.50 %, female with 75.50%, age between 11-15 years old with 48.90%, study in secondary schools with 82.00%, living with their mothers 71.20%, their father were employees 61.20%, and their mother were trade professional 41.70%.
2. The role of the morality teaching monks in schools of Kaengkhoi District, SaraburiProvince, found that the opinions of morality teaching in schools of Kaengkhoi District, SaraburiProvince is in the high level. When considered in each aspect it was found that the opinions to the learning and teaching morality in schools Kaengkhoi District, Saraburi Province for using tools in teaching is high level. The secondary is using catechetic and the last is to build up the atmosphere in the class.
3. The result of data analysis comparison the different opinions to the role of the morality teaching monks in schools of Kaengkhoi District, Saraburi Province divided into level of Dhamma study, gender, age, level of education, family condition father’s career, mother’s career was found that the students who have difference of education, mother, father’s career are no different to teaching morality. For the students who have different age, family condition their opinion was different to teaching morality in schools with the statistical significance at 0.5.
4. Problems and obstacles of the role to teaching morality monks in schools Kaengkhoi District, Saraburi Province was found that the lack of tools that fit to the modern condition, there is no room for moral extension, there is no questions, no pretest and post test exams and no conclusion of the result to set the various idea.
Hence the monks who teach the morality should have tools for teaching to catch up to the time and should have pretest, post test and let the students have change to participate in exchange knowledge and idea, have learning group activities to demonstrate that illustration open conclusion to get various idea and have to attend to take care the students in every parts. Starting from process of group activities, Should motivate all students that were expected to learning and teaching morality to Dhamma students with the right and good conditions in order to develop the efficiency and effectiveness to the monks themselves and Dhamma students, which will be of good to Buddhism and the long periods of Buddhism to the next generations. |
