Abstract

This thesis entitled The Fundamental Study of the Violation of Disciplines” is of the three objectives, i.e., (1) to study the cases of the violation of the Buddha disciplines; (2) to study the factors of the cases of violation; and (3) to suggest the way to the right practice of the cases of violation.

Research findings are :

There are six causes of the violation of all the Buddha’s disciplines asare to;  (1) the offense caused by body not by speech and mind; (2) the offense caused by speed not by body and mind; (3) the offense caused by body and speech not mind; (4) the offense caused by body and mind not speech; (5) the offense caused by speech and mind not body; and (6) the offense caused by body speech and mind.  Actually of all the causes, only the mind is not the cause of the violation but complied with either body or speech only. Only the mind without body or speech, It cannot cause the offense.

The Causes of the violation of the Buddha’s disciplines are meant to study and learn how to avoid the offense because of unknowing, misunderstanding, etc., in order that new-comer monks be interested to prevent and get rid defilements in advance, and for the good sake of life leading to purity.  By knowing and conforming this way, the strict monks can attain the stream-winnership upto the holy one.  The faults caused from the bad preceptors or violation of the disciplines make them unbeloved by gods and men. They are unworthy of advice and encounter with repentance all the time.
