The objectives of the research were to (1) to study concept and procedure in improving self-reliance in Thai society, (2) to study Buddha Dhamma in improving selfreliance, (3) to suggest the ways in the application of Buddha Dhamma in improving self-reliance .
This research applied the documentary research with collecting data from Tipitaka, academic textbooks, related documents and researches. Analysis of the data used the analysis of the content and the summary of the research used presenting the descriptive.
Results of the research
Self-reliance is the expression of attempt to apply the knowledge and the capacity in doing something successful and solving problems appropriately by being self-reliance: Economic, Natural Resource and Environment Technology, Culture and Mind.
Buddha Dhamma has the relationship with the way of life of Thai people closely. Therefore, Buddha Dhamma principle in improving the self-reliance for Thai people in various aspects, (1) Economics: Dhitthammikattha-Samvattanika-Dhamma, the four Iddhipadas, (2) Natural Resource: Bhochane-Mattanyuta, Santoso, (3) Technology: Yonisomanasikara and Mjjhima patipada, (4) Social and Cultural: Sila or Vinaya and the four Sanghawutthu and (5) Mind: the two Kammatthana and the three Tilakkahana.
The application of Buddha Dhamma in improving self-reliance in Thai society must co-operate three institutions in the community: government institution (homes), religious institution (monasteries) and educational institution (schools) to be device for the development and make the local community strong. Moreover, it can be self-reliant in five aspects; (1) for the economics: to be able to economically by holding the middle way according to Efficient Economy, (2) for the natural resource: to be able manage the resource diligently by holding the principle of constancy, (3) for the technology: to know selecting the consume of suitable technology with position of oneself society and environment, (4) for the society and culture: to be able live with helping together and sharing and (5) for the mind: to be the person who has the heart-hard mind, the good consciousness and realization. |
