This thesis is ascertaining on the definition of A Sudy of Leadership according to brahmavihara of Sangha administrator at Phothong sub-district, Selaphum district, Roi-Et Province, and had the following objectives: 1) to study the definition and theory of leadership, 2) to study leadership according to the principles of Brahmavihāra (holy abidings or sublime states of mind) as depicted in Theravada Buddhism, 3) to study an importance of the leadership principles based on the four holy abidings or sublime states of mind to the development of administrative Sangha in the area of Bothong sub-district, Serabhum district, Roi-et province. This thesis was conducted based on qualitative research methodology.
The result of the study found that leadership means those who had well trained in both knowledge and conduct and had good relationship with the controlled for the successful achievement and total aim of the engaged activities.
Leadership according to the principles of Brahmavihāra had the specific unit characteristics such as be trustful to the colleagues, well trained in profession, be compassionate, punctual, abiding in the state law.
The principle of the Brahmavihāra and an applying of the principles with appropriate practices of the administrative Sangha in the area of Bothong sub-district, Selabhum district, Roi-et province, from evaluating the questionnaire, it was found that the administrative Sangha in the area of Bothong sub-district had applied the principles of leadership by applying mettā or loving kindness towards their controlees both monastic and lay peoples, karuṇā or compassion to colleagues, showing sympathetic joy or muditā to those who had success, and maintaining equanimity or upekkhā whenever it was suitable to do so. |
