A Comparative Study of Nirvāna in Buddhism and Brahman in Hinduism

Abstract
This thesis is of three objectives :- 1) to study of Nirvāna in Buddhism, 2) to study of Brahman in Hinduism, and 3) to comparative study of Nirvāna in Buddhism and Brahman in Hinduism.
From the result of study is found that, the similarity of perspective of both Buddhism and Hinduism, it said that the scriptures have divided the ultimate thing into two kinds. The comparison is the Saupadisesa-nippāna (Nibbāna with the substratum of life remaining) as Jivamukti, and Anupadisesa-nippāna (Nibbāna without any substratum of life remaining) as Videhamukti. The explanation of the highest state in Scriptures are the same, it is an existence over birth and dead and time. It is the state which deliverance from all sufferings, hunger, merit and sin, sadness. It is an ageless and it is existence. The using word for declination of explanation of both two states cannot use the human’s description, including the explanation of the state is as highest happiness. Then, the difference of states is Nibbāna is Anattā (non-self) but Moksha is Attā (self). 
The way to practice of achievement the highest state is both difference and similarity; it said that Upaniṣad is talking about worship, rituals, and dedication to God which is way to achieve to Moksha. Then, in Suttantapitaka has refused this way. The similarity is to emphasize practicing meditation or mental training; Upaniṣad is called Yoga (Jayānuyoga), in Suttantapitaka also is the same way which is called mind training by two way of Meditation Practice, tranquility meditation and insight meditation.
