Abstract

  This survey research aimed to 1) to study the academic administration of Souphanouvong University in People’s Democratic Republic of Laos, 2) to compare levels of opinions toward the academic administration of the university according to different basic factors, and 3) to study problems and suggestions for the academic administration according to the opinions of the administrators and lecturers of the university. The sample group was 176 administrators and lecturers, The tool used in collecting the data was the questionnaire, and the statistics used in analyzing the data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA.

Results
According to the overall opinions of the administrators and lecturers toward the academic administration of Souphanouvong University, it was found that their opinions were in high level, Considering specific topics, they could be put in order from most to least as follows: learning management, syllabus and application and internal supervision Toward other topics, the administrators and lecturers’ opinions were in medium level as follows: measurement and evaluation, instruction media and library aspectinely
Distinguished by genders, it was found that the administrator and lecturers in different genders significantly had no different overall opinions toward the academic administration with the statistic was at 0.05level. Considering specific topics, the opinions toward syllabus and application, learning management, instruction media, measurement and evaluation, and library were significantly not different with the statistic was at 0.05level. Only the opinions toward the internal supervision were significantly different with the statistic was at 0.05levels
Suggestions
According to the administrators and lecturers’ opinions toward the academic administration of Souphanouvong University in People’s Democratic Republic of Laos, they could be divided as follows, 1) The syllabus and application should conform to the reality of the modern world; specific subjects should be greatly emphasized, 2) The learning management should be facilitated with sufficient classrooms, good learning environment,. 3) The lecturers should find interesting instruction media that conforms to the learning contents to enhance students’ understanding. 4) The training on measurement and evaluation should be provided for the lecturers and officers at least once a year, and some experts should be invited as committees to inspect the tools used in measurement and evaluation. 5) The more budgets should be allocated to buy more books, papers, and journals.to modernizes the library. 6) The internal supervision of the university should be arranged once or twice per semester.
