The objectives of the research are i). to study the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province; ii) to compare the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province as viewed by monks, classified by personal factors; and iii) to study the problems and suggestions for improvement of the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province. This is Mixed Method Research used qualitative research and In-depth Interview with key information.
The sampling used in this research comprised 214 respondents in the field of monks at Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi province. Tool for data collection in the research is questionnaire divided into 3 parts : 1) the general information of the sample 2) the opinion of the sample about roles of Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province, and 3) the opinion of the sample about problem and the suggestion. Information has been collected by distributing questionnaire to the sample and asking them to fill them up.
Statistics used in the research includes ratio of frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, assumption test by using F-test (One-way ANOVA) and the information form interview analysis by content validity.
The results of the research are concluded as follows:
1. Most of The respondents are aged between 20-30 years old (33.7%), having years of ordination between 1-5 years (48.6%), with them have Nakdhamma Ek (44.9%), Most of them have not Pali qualifications (91.6%), with degree qualification (57.0%).
2. The opinion of Buddhist monks who answered the questionnaire of the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province, in a whole, was at the high level of which the mean equaled 3.55. Considering as the aspects, it had been found that the opinion of the Buddhist monks who answered the questionnaire paid to the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province was at the high level 4 factors and medium in level 1 factor. When consider in each factor found the top to least are 1) Cultural side with mean score = 3.71, 2) Educational side with mean score = 3.61, 3) Way of life side with mean score = 3.54, 4) Public work side with mean score = 3.52, and the last one is Economical side with mean score = 3.37.
In the comparison of the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province as the Buddhist monks’ opinion, being separated as individual status, it has been found that
The opinion of the monks who answered the questionnaire of the Roles of Buddhist Monks in Community Development in Bangkruay District, Nonthaburi Province was different based on the difference of their year, pali study qualification and general educational qualification of rains-retreat and position with statistical significance at the level 0.05, hereby, the set hypothesis was accepted and their opinion was not different on the base of the difference of their age and Dhamma study qualification hereby, the set hypothesis was rejected.
