ABSTRACT
This thematic paper has two objectves : 1) to study the principles of Buddhadhamma and the law, 2) to analytically study the relationship between the principles of Buddhadhamma and the Protection act for Victims of Family Violence.
The finding showed that the principle of Buddhadhamma is basically concerned with human beings’ lives and society based on the nature, natural law, natured duty and natural duty’s outcome. The so- called principle is by nature the truth which is beyond the social law, it is functioning under the natural law. The principles of Buddhadhamma are the four virtues for a good household life, the four holy bidings, the five precepts and the four bases of sympathy.
The principle of law is in the form of order and command of the enactment legislated by the state for people to follow, if there is the breach of law, the punishment is done. The law’s main aim is to control the members of society in the way the law allows, and it also promotes moral good life. The increase of the statistic in the family violence is the main reason for this legislation; it has been affecting the family institution and society as a whole. As a result of that, the problem of family violence victim can be solved in some extent.
There are four levels of the principle of Buddhadhamma in the family violence victim protection act, namely ; the four virtues for a good household life, the four holy abidings, the five precepts and the four bases of sympathy. Although the so-called Act and the principles of Buddhadhamma may share the relevant relationship and diffierence, yet they can be utilized in bringing about the happiness to man and society because there is the principle of Buddhadhamma in each base of the Act.
