ABSTRACT
This study aims to (1) study Buddhadhamma (The Teachings of the Buddha) appeared in Jantagha, Khaosaw Literature, and to (2) explore people’s way of life of Lanna people in the Jantagha. The study revealed the following findings.
Firstly, the Buddha’s teachings in the Jantagha via characters indicating practice and their consequences (Vipaka) and results from transgressed acts consist of morality, Law of Kamma, Four Noble Truths , carefulness, honoring, truthfulness , selflessness, gratitude, loving - kindness, and ten virtues of the king.
Secondly, The Jantagha reflects Lanna people’ lifestyle in three aspects; folkway, tradition and beliefs; folkway such as profession, food, clothes, traditional practices like wedding custom, funeral rites, blessing ceremony, beliefs such as person naming, paranormal and animist beliefs, astrology, black magic, cycle of life, and beliefs in merit, demerit, purgatory and heaven.
