ABSTRACT

           This research aims to (1) study Sanígkhahawatthu 4 in Theravada Buddhism and (2) compare  Sanígkhahawatthu  4  application for the service of  healthy  hospital of Nonpharung Subdistrict   based on  people’s views classified by sex, age, education, and service experience. The research was divided into two factors. The first factor was a documentary research analyzing Sanígkhahawatthu 4 from Tipitaka, Attakatha, Deeka,  Anudeeka, and other related documents. The second one was a quantitative research. Samples were 315 people who used the service of healthy  hospital of Nonpharung Subdistrict in the 2010 fiscal year through the accidental sampling process. Data for collection were 30 items of rating scale questionnaire. Statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test.

          The results were as follows:

1. Sanígkhahawatthu 4 is a very vital heart of service because every human

in the society need being loved and accepted. Besides, it holds people’s heart and links people with unity. It consists of four factors: charity, kindly speech, useful conduct, and even and equal treatment. Charity refers to giving, supporting, and making a sacrifice including giving knowledge and instruction. Kindly speech refers to a speech of love, impression, and friendliness consisting of reasons. Useful conduct refers to behaving for public benefits including helping and supporting morality. Even and equal treatment refers to behaving consistently, acting consistently for the people, for the suffering, for the position, for the state, for the person, for the events, and environment based on Dhamma.

2. The average of Sanígkhahawatthu   4 application for the service of healthy  hospital of Nonpharung Subdistrict   based on  people’s views is in a high level. According to each side, three sides are in a high level and one  in an average level. From the highest mean to the least one, the even and equal treatment has the highest mean following by kindly speech, giving, and useful conduct respectively.

          3. Both the average and each side of Sanígkhahawatthu   4  application for the service of  healthy  hospital of Nonpharung Subdistrict   based on  people’s views classified by sex, age, education, and service experience do not show a statistically significant difference at .05 level.

             4. By the average, the kindly speech and even and equal treatment show a statistically significant difference at .05 level. While the other parts do not show a statistically significant difference at .05 level.
