Abstract

ABSTRACT

Two objectives were conducted for this research. Firstly, it was to study the Noble Eightfold Path in Buddhism. Secondly, it was to investigate Kamma in Buddhism. Thirdly, it was to find out the Noble Eightfold Path as a way to liberate from Kamma in Buddhism. This research was a documentary research. The researcher studied from Theravada Buddhist Scriptures, Commentaries, and related literature review.

The results showed that Noble Eightfold Path is the approach of practice or approach of living which then leads to the cessation of suffering and liberate from kamma. The approach gathers and makes benefits from the laws of nature. Kamma is action fills with intention of person who still has kilesa as well as in living in a whirlpool of samsara. These made them to reincarnate or live in circles of suffering: kilesa, kamma, and consequences of action. It can be explained that kilesa is the causes that lead to kamma. If someone does a particular type of kamma, then get that particular type of kamma. The only freedom from kamma is practicing the Noble Eightfold Path or, in other words, Precept, Meditation, and Wisdom. In brief, this is concentration-insight meditation or form-non-form. The benefits of following in this practice are here and now, value of life, see things as the way things are, living beyond up and down of life, and non-attachment. Finally, spend life with deep inner happiness which is completely pure, bright, cool, and still.
