THE ROLES OF GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION IN PARTICIPATION TO PROMOTE BUDDHIST ADMINISTRATION IN MUANG DISTRICT, PRACHINBURI PROVINCE

Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

The objectives of this research are:1) to study on roles of government organizations on its participation in promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province; 2) to compare the roles of government organizations with participation in promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province, classified by personal factors; 3) to study on problems, threats and suggestion for government organizations regarding promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province.This research was conducted under the method of Survey Research. The sample of this study consisted of 260 Buddhist monks drawn from 795Buddhist monks population in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province, by random simple sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted by using frequencies, means, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, One Way Analysis of Variance, differentiation between the mean in each couple of sampling subject tested by using Least Significant Difference: LSD.The data collected from key informants by method of In-depth Interview are analyzed by Content Analysis technique.

 

 

 

 

 

The findings of this research are concluded as follows:

1. The overallopinions of Buddhist monks towards the roles of government organizations on participation in promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province, have been found at the high level with mean of( =3.75).When considering each dimension, it isnoted at the high levels in all aspects with means arranged in descending order fromdimensions of administration ( =3.81),public health aspect ( =3.78), Dhamma dissemination ( =3.75),public utility  ( =3.74), religious studies( =3.73) and welfare education( =3.69).

2. For the result of comparing the roles of government organizations with participation in promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, PrachinburiProvince, classified by personal factors such as age, years of ordination, religious education,  general educational background, ranking position, it is found that there is no significant difference for the roles of government organizations on participation in promoting Buddhist affairs, therefore, rejecting the formulated hypotheses.

3. For problems, threats and suggestion regarding roles of government organizationson participation in promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province, it is found that roles of government organizations on participation in promoting Buddhist affairs in MuangDistrict, Prachinburi Province, was not successful as it should be because government organizations or related authorities provided no opportunity for Buddhist monks to participate in or provide their opinions. In addition, government organizations still lacked of management or operation in all dimensions management including administration, religious studies, welfare education, Dhammadissemination  and public utility.   

For suggestion, in order to achieve effective operation of government organizations on participation in promoting Buddhist affairs with direct ultimate benefit for Buddhist monks, government organizations or related authorizes should support Buddhist affairs promotion and budgets for all aspects including administration, religious education, welfare education, Dhamma dissemination, and public utility. This will be management and operation that is actually corresponding to actual problems.
