Abstract
The objectives of this research were to 1) study the monks’ community development efficiency in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province, 2) compare peoples’ opinions towards the monks’ community development efficiency in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province, and 3) study problems, obstacles and recommendations toward the monks’ community development efficiency in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province.
The research methodology was quantitativeresearch by survey method, collecting data by questionnaires from 370 samples who live in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province. Data were analyzed by statistics of frequency, mean, percentile, and standard deviation, and hypotheses test by t-test, F-test and one way ANOVA
Findings:
1. The monks’ community development efficiency in Prachantakham
District, Prachinburi Province collectively was at middle level at the average of 3.42.
For details by each aspect, it was found that education provision, Dhamma dissemination, and community development were at middle level with the averages of 3.49, 3.42, and 3.37 respectively.
2. Comparing peoples’ opinions towards the monks’ community
development efficiency in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province classified by sex, age, educational level, collectively in general, they were not significantly different according to statistical significance at 0.05, denying the set hypotheses.
Details by each aspect classified by occupations and monthly income, it was found that peoples’ opinions towards the monks’ community development efficiency in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province with the aspect of education provision, Dhamma dissemination and community development were not significantly different at 0.05, denying the set hypotheses.
3. Recommendations for the monks’ community development
efficiency in Prachantakham District, Prachinburi Province were that monks should support education so that people shall develop themselves according Dhamma principles and also they should provide education for monks and novices in the monasteries with the integrated curriculum contents for community development. There should be training on the Dhamma appropriate to natural resources and environment protection and also there should be preventive training to encounter the drug trafficking in the community.
