Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

                   The Main Objectives of this Researchwere:1) to Study The Role onPublic Welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province,2) to Compare the Role on Public Welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province, Classified by Personal Status, and3) to Study The Problems and Suggestions on The Role on public welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province.  In this Studyusingmixedmethodsresearch.studya quantitative research was employed. Tha sample of the study consisted of 222 monks living and lay people who came and made merit inWatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,NonthaburiProvince.The tool for data collection was  questionnaire. The questionnaire comprised both closed and open-ended questions.Statistical techniques employed  for data analysis were  frequencies, percentage, average, standard deviation(S.D) for describing data from variables or personal characteristics. The analysis was also done through t-test for analysis the hypotheses in order to test the average difference between the two groups and f- test by one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) for testing the difference between the averages from three or more groups with LSD (Least Significant Different) method.And Methods in Qualitative Research research study using a document and in-depth interviews with the important information.

The finding of this research were concluded as follows:

                   1. The overall role on public welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province was found at high level with the average value of 4.32,when considering in each aspect, it was noticed at high level in all aspects.

                   2. The results of comparing the role on public welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province, classified by personal status indicated that there was significant difference between the roles on public welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit, performed by monks and lay people at 0.05 level of confidence, thus accepting the formulated hypothesis.

                             3. A result of the interviews towards the role on public welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province, showed that the overall performance of the public welfarewas very important. Because it helped people and maintained society.Monks who performed the role on public welfare could easily approach people especially in the areas of natural disasters, poverty and careers. The development of public welfare that relied on the principles of Buddhism would give a great benefit to the community. It was called “Sangahavutthu or Bases of Sympathy”. It was the Buddhist principle to be practiced for the sake of others’ benefits and happiness.

                   4. Suggestions for the role on public welfare of WatChonprathanrangsarit,Pakkret District,Nonthaburi Province, in various aspects indicated that i) for aid Operation: there should have good planning and management, distribution and public relations;ii)for the aid of others for public affairs: there should contribute certain things that are important and all the welfare activities should be carried out in small areas; iii) for aid a public place: there should disseminate and publicize in various temple throughout the country; and iv) for the public aid: there should be a fund set up to help victims of natural disasters and publicly invite volunteers to help and conduct these social activities  that might be more in the future.
