ABSTRACT
The main objectives of the research were: 1) to study an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province; 2) to compare the opinions of monk towards an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, classified by personal factors; and 3) to study the problem and obstacles of an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province. This study was mixed research. The sample consisted of 272 Buddhist monks in Potharam District, Ratchburi Province, being drawn by random sampling technique. Research instruments was questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by statistical techniques such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D). The hypotheses were tested by employing t-test for two-valued variables and F-test or One-Way ANOVA for more than 3 valued variables. In case of differentiation being found, it was compared by Least Significant Difference (LSD). In addition, 10 key informants were interviewed in this study.
The results of research were concluded as follows:
1. The overall an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, was high ( = 3.71). When being considered into each aspect, it was found that personnel, teaching technique and methods and environment aspects was ranked at the high levels, whereas teaching materials were rated at the middle one.
2. To compare the opinion of Sanghas towards an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, classified by personal factors, it was found that age, years of ordination, level of Dhamma studies and level of Pali studies had no significant differences, thus rejecting the formulated hypotheses. While level of general education implied statistically significant difference at 0.05 level of confidence.
3. For barriers related to an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, this study indicated that there were less numbers of teachers of Dhamma Studies and responsible for many subjects, conventional teaching methods were normally used, lack of teaching aid materials, classrooms were full, untidy and disturbed from external environments. With regard to solutions concerned an efficiency of teaching and learning management of Dhamma studies of monasteries in Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, it was suggested that for personnel aspect: there should recruit or select more new teachers based on the merit and examination including teaching practice, for teaching techniques and methods: modern teaching techniques and methods should be employed and encouraged to use in order to increase the efficiency of teaching and high payment should be rewarded, for teaching materials: new teaching aid technology and materials such as pictures, sounds etc. should be added for the sake of teaching effectiveness, and for environment aspect: classroom should be suitable, quiet, air-flow styled and undisturbed by external voices. |
