Abstract

     The purposes of this study were : (1) to study the administrative performance by the ministry of the monks in Ang-thong regarding on the monks and novices in the province, (2) to compare the efficiency of administering the ministry of monks in Ang-Thong province depending on the factors of each person, and (3) to study the problems and suggestions towards the efficiency of administering the ministry of monks in Ang-Thong province. This is a survey research which the monks and novices in Ang-Thong were studied. In collecting data, the tools were questionnaires with 3 parts :  Part 1 included the general information of the respondents, Part 2 questioned about the efficiency of administering the minister of monks, and Part 3 was about the problems and any suggestions related to the efficiency of administering the minister of monks in Ang-Thong. The data analysis was computed by using statistical techniques such as the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-test, and F-test which analysis ANOVA (One way analysis of variance), and the Least Significant Difference (LSD).

              The findings of this research are as follows :

1)       Overall, the results showed that administrative performance by ministry of the monks in Ang-thong was moderate ( = 3.45). In each aspect of areas, the results showed that administrative performance was high ( = 3.68) as well as performance on educational assistance ( = 3.53). Totally, educational assistance was moderate ( = 3.12), Buddhism propagation was moderate ( = 3.34), public assistance was high ( = 3.65), and public affairs was moderate ( = 3.39). Depending on the performance of Phra Sanghadhikans, administration area was the best while education assistance was poorest.Regarding to comparison on performances of Phra Sanghadhikans on ecclesiastical administration in Ang-thong, the results showed that there were no differences in the opinion toward administrative performance of the ministry of monks in Ang-thong between monks and novices holding the qualification in general education, religious education, and residing in the different temples.

2)      Monks and novices whose status, age, and years of monkhood were different reported the different opinion toward administrative performance of the ministry of monks in Ang-thong as same as the monks and novices whose general education background and Dhamma education background were different reported the different opinion.

3)      To study the problems and suggestions towards the efficiency of administering the ministry of monks by the monk rectors in Ang-Thong, 3 issues were found : educational assistance, propagating Buddhism, and public affairs. It was found that the monk rectors in the province do not assist Buddhists as expected.
