Abstract.

  There are 3 objectives for this research ; 1) to study the history of  traditional Candle Lent of Buddhists in Ubon Ratchathani , 2) to study the transformation of traditional candles Lent of Buddhists in Ubon Ratchathani,           3) to study the conservation of traditional candles Lent of  Buddhists in               Ubon Ratchathani. This research was the qualitative research by used the documentary and field research.

The results are found that.

Buddhist tradition that has existed since the Buddha era, he found the problem of his disciples in during the rainy season, the people were blamed his disciplines while this situation was appeared, Buddha ruled for his disciples practice during rainy season. The Tradition of Candle Festival of Buddhist in Ubon Ratchathani was progressed from an ancient tradition was “Hitsebsong khongsebsi) , by believed that Eighth tradition or Rainy season festival and is importance for Buddhist.

Candle Festival formed in tradition model was local society, trust in Buddhism teaching continually progressed and for prayed to Buddha by hopefully the real merit in Buddhism feedback, people happily joined all activities but fast changed behind of capitalism until was became the symbol of cultural tourism.

The Conservation of Candle Festival of Buddhist in Ubon Ratchathani was Buddhist joined activities as like; Candle making, candle parade, candle contest and  transmitted the beliefs which concerning the candles for the young generation to learn from generation to generation, but some problem especially the budget even though get support from the government and private sectors.
