Abstract
This thesis aims to study Buddhism’s viewpoint to six teacher’s belief in these points: 1.Six teachers’ viewpoint 2. Buddhism’s viewpoint to six teachers’ belief 3.The influence of six teacher’s belief to Thai society.
The study is found that six teacher’s fame was contemporary with Buddhism. Their teachings’ influence to Indian people extremely. These are the conclusion of six teachers’ belief: 1. Puranakassapa had viewpoint that none merit, sin, goodness, evil and morality. 2. Makhalikosarn said that none action in the past, none result of action to the future or none causes and conditions. 3. Ajitakeskampol taught that none merit, sin and results of action in bad and good action. 4. Pakuttakasjayana had viewpoint that molecule and mind are permanent. 5. Nikarananathaputta believed in self-mortification is the way to stop suffering and taught that truth has more conditions. 6. Sanchayavelattaputta had meaningless teachings and none permanent point.
The result of research is found that Buddhism’s viewpoints to six teacher’s belief are wrong understandings. There are two kinds of wrong understandings: 1. Sassatadiṭṭhi ( Externalism ) ; the doctrine of the continuance of soul after death, the doctrine that soul and the world are eternal. 2. Ucchedaditthi (annihilationism) ; the doctrine of the annihilation of the soul, belief in the annihilation of the soul.
Six teachers’ viewpoints appeared in Thai society is the causes of Wrong understanding to Buddhism. The way to solve this problem must be followed Right understanding that has two factors: Paratoghosa (Learning from others) and Yonisomanasikara (Analytical reflection). Both can be the conditions for the arising of right view. And one important condition is Kalyanamittata; having good friend can cause person understand all thing as they are. |
