ABSTRACT
The research entitled : “An Application of Mindfulness and Clear Comprehension to Solve the Working Problems of Labor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT.)”. The objectives of the study had 3 folds : 1) to study Mindfulness principles as appeared in Buddhist Tipitake 2) to study the awareness and understanding of mindfulness and the factors which were causing the failure of the employees from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. 3) To study the mindfulness principles used to solve the problems of Employee’s problems of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT.).
The study was documentary and survey research. The data gathering for primary source was done through Tipitaka texts, related Buddhist documents and research works VIZ integrating to the knowledge. The sample survey of the population used questionnaire as the research tool. from employees of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand under the northern operations region. The sample consisted of 210 employees which have drawn from the total population of 444 employees. The data were analyzed by percentage, frequency, mean and standard deviation. The sampling method was employed Stratified Random Sampling.
The findings were as follows:
1) Sati (mindfulness) referred to the recall and did not forget. not metaphysical a precaution. The mindfulness was self-restraint which was not to fall into the evil mind. The functions of mindfulness was not amnesia remember with affection and always control constant mood. The nature of mindfulness was the adjuncts of consciousness and setting up of mindfulness. The mindfulness made sense to concentration. The concentration made wisdom. Sati (mindfulness) was the foundation of Kãyãnupãssanã, Vedanãnupassanã, Cittãnupassanã and Dhammãnupassanã. The benefits of mindfulness was not to create evil, prevent hostile action. The mindfulness at all times was comparing to listening the sermons of the Buddha’s time.
2) The understanding of mindfulness for the employees concerning with the maintenance tasks knew quite a few power supplies for the 36.19 %. And the cause of problem in the performance of employees was an error of the individual personnel. The factors that caused errors in the work had four kinds such as from the personnel, tools and equipment, method and procedures of works and working environment. From the comments of the respondents indicated that the factors which caused fault of the employees was the highest average ( =4.53). Which was caused by a lack of mindfulness and negligence at the highest average level ( =4.17).
3) The opinions on the used of primary mindfulness principles to solve performance problems was Satipatthãna (foundations of mindfulness), the average mean scores at the high level ( =4.12). The administrators should have a clear policy that was the primary objective in a work. The employees should put Satipatthãna into practice at high average level ( =4.04). The administrators should organize the training course on Satipatthãna which had the high average level ( =3.95). Overall conclusion; the principles of mindfulness should be practiced by including as the policy for practice of the employees which a high average mean scores.
