ABSTRACT

                        The main objectives of this thesis are: to study the behavior of good and bad persons in Theravada Buddhist literature, to study the association of good and bad persons of a student at Kung Sawang School, and to study a result of having association with good and bad persons that played impact to lifestyle of the students. However, this thesis was conducted based on qualitative research methodology, documentary research, field work approaches, and critical analysis.

                        The result of the study found that a good person or Sattapurisahad wholesome principles as his major principle in earning his living. Therefore, all of his actions were beneficial to all and lack of harmful to anyone.Sattapurisawas the kind of person that should be associated with. On the contrary, a bad person, without considering about law of the nation and wholesomeness, performed his actions only for the sake of himself. He did not care about anything, and this kind of mankind was not recommended to be associated with. Nevertheless, the study found that KungSawangSchool students associated with good persons, while some associated with bad persons. With being influence by good persons, the first groups of students likely to love other fellows without stealing, and guided friends to live with the moral means without taking drugs and other intoxicant objects. However, the second groups of the students, who associated with bad persons, were happy in doing harm to others, stealing, lack of compassion, always guided friends to engage with immoral actions, addicted to drugs, and so on.

                        For the impact of association with those two kinds of persons of KungSawangSchool students could be summarized into 2 categories: the students who had mutual relationship with good persons were a reasonable man, had self-discipline, being punctual, had responsibility, and were aopen-minded man. On the contrary, those students who associated with bad persons behaved improperly like the one he or she followed. For instance, they did not know potential quality of oneself, unreasonable, over consumption, and diffident. In fact, all these undesirable characteristics were very hot problematic issue for a family, a school, a community, and the nation as the whole.
